Blocker 2 Tie Ring with Mag-Loc  -  STAINLESS STEEL

The Blocker Tie Ring 2 with Mag-Loc features:

  • A magnet and bottom stays to keep the tongue of the tie ring in place. Allows for an even greater range of uses, including upside down on hitch rails!
  • A smaller, lighter and more compact size - perfect where space is tight, like in the trailer.
  • A special quick snap with a tapered back that allows you to easily clip the tie ring to existing tie hooks and move it quickly as needed from place to place.
  • Comes complete with quick snap, shackle, eye bolt and complete instructions on use. Chrome plated.

For use in and around the barn, crossties, trailers, and picket lines

Tying Options
The Blocker Tie Ring allows you to regulate the amount of hold by using one or more of the three different tying options.  In addition, you can increase the hold by as little as a few pounds or as much as several hundred pounds, simply by changing the type of lead rope that you use.

Lead Ropes ?
Different lead ropes offer varying degrees of hold. For example, a brand new poly lead rope may have less hold than an older, cotton lead rope that has been hanging in your barn for years. Experiment with different lead ropes around your barn and you'll see how different ropes work.

Often, it will only be necessary to use the first tying method (Level One), because your lead rope offers enough hold to support your horse. But note, if you can't pull the lead rope through the Blocker Tie Ring, you are probably using more hold than necessary to support most horses.

Basic Tying - Level 1
This basic tying option offers the least amount of hold for your horse. It is also the first position in the progression of tying methods listed below.

Step 1: After installing the Blocker Tie Ring, double-up the lead rope* approximately three feet from the snap end and make a loop. Insert the loop through the large ring of the Blocker Tie Ring. Next, push the tongue of the Tie Ring up through the loop in the rope. (see Fig 1).

*The suggested length of lead rope between your horse and the Blocker Tie Ring during its use is approximately three feet. You may need more or less depending on your horse.

Step 2: Pull both ends of the lead rope straight down to lock in place. (See Fig. 2).

More Hold - Level Two
Level Two offers even more support and hold for your horse. (Before you start Level Two, use Steps 1 & 2 above.)

Step 3: Starting with your lead rope tied at Level One (see Fig. 2), bring the loose end of the lead rope behind the snap end of the lead rope. (See Fig. 3)

Step 4: With your finger, push the Tie Ring tongue out. Bring the lead rope up and behind the Tie Ring and down over the tongue, making a circle. (See Fig. 4)

Step 5: Grasp the end of the lead rope that is attached to your horse and pull down to lock in place. (See Fig. 5)

Maximum Hold - Level Three
Level Three is the final tying method and offers the most hold and support for your horse. Note, if you can't pull the lead rope through the Blocker Tie Ring, you probably are using more hold than necessary to support your horse.

Step 6: Starting with your lead rope tied at Level Two (see Fig. 5 above), grasp the tail end of the lead rope that is attached to your horse. This creates the most hold possible while still allowing a release. (See Fig. 6)

Why use a Blocker Tie Ring?
There are three things you need to consider when tying your horse:
First, horses are claustrophobic by nature Second, they have a fight-or-flight instinct Third, they have a very strong survival instinct

When a horse realizes he is tied solid and feels trapped, he panics. His fight-or-flight instinct kicks in and he tries to get away by pulling back so hard, that often, the snap on the lead rope will break. The sudden release of pressure that results after the tack breaks can cause the horse to jerk back or flip over on its back, often causing trauma to the poll, neck, withers, and hamstrings. Often, a horse may never recover from these injuries and/or suffers physical or psychological problems for the rest of its life or worse.

The Blocker Tie Ring gives you an alternative to other tying methods. Designed to be a support system rather than a restraint system, the Blocker Tie Ring allows a horse to pull slack in the lead rope when he panics or falls. This releases pressure and the source of pain or panic, reducing the threat of injury to you and your horse dramatically.

Blocker Tie Ring vs. Other Methods
A lot of people assume that the safest way to tie their horse is by using devices like bungee cords, inner tubes, safety snaps or quick release knots.  Until recently, those have been the safest methods available.  Now, the Blocker Tie Ring offers an even safer alternative for both you and your horse.  The Blocker releases pressure on the horse. When we train horses, we teach them to give to pressure.  Unlike the Blocker Tie Ring, an inner tube or bungee cord increases pressure on the horse as it pulls back. Even if the horse stops pulling, the pressure from the bungee cord remains.  What is this teaching your horse? (I'm not sure!) The Blocker Tie Ring rewards your horse the moment he stops pulling back with a release of pressure. This supports and reinforces your training efforts.  The Blocker Tie Ring keeps you out of danger and is safer for you. For example, should your horse panic, fall down in a trailer or get in trouble while tied with a bungee cord, quick release knot or some other safety device, you have to manually release it. This unnecessarily puts you in close proximity to a panicked horse. The Blocker Tie Ring allows your horse to pull some slack when he pulls hard enough, so he can recover on his own, reducing the threat of injury to you dramatically. Simply safer, the Blocker Tie Ring is clearly the smarter choice.
